Without sounding too thick, and having cars like MK1 MK2escorts , does the landrover discovery tdi have a CAT?

'91 stretch Discovery 200 Tdi
Hybrid for running round (got to go now)
Srs 3 Lightweight petrol (got to go)
Srs 3 Lightweight petrol, runabout

Not every problem can be solved with duct tape, and it's exactly for those situations we have WD 40

Isn't is something like anything pre '95 doesn't have to have one - regulations requiring them came into force around that time?

I've also known of people with 300's taking the CAT off and not making any difference to emissions at MOT time, something to do with the exhaust gases not being hot enough to get the converter up to temperature to do its job or something like that - I stand to be corrected

Mine (300) doesn't have one altho it's DOB is April '94 going off the top of my head without looking at the paperwork!

De-Catted my 1998 300 TDi about 3 years ago.  Passed every MOT since then without any trouble at all.

Also running defender down pipes instead of those poxy flexible ones that always rot.

All petrol cars built from the 1st August 1992 require a CAT to be fitted...

Diesels are exempt from this - different test.

Just done some digging.

According to "MOT tester Monthly" No vehicle is required by law to have a catalytic converter.

But most cars fail strict emmisions testing without it.

if the emmisions are low enough that it will pass without a CAT then there is not a problem.

will try it when the cat needs replacing i think.
