Johnnie Walker

Bush Tucker Man:
One of the pleasures I grab whenever I can is listening to Johnnie Walker on Radio 2 between 17:00 & 19:00.

If I'm on days-off, or earlies, it usually means me cooking, wshing up, drying, cleaning up & putting it all away as it prolongs my listening (& avoids programmes like 'Little Bear' & Fi-Fi & Flowertot's, etc...)

I reckon he's one of the better DJ's on Radio 2, as he's got a certain style (other good ones; Nick Barraclough, Bob Harris, Jeremy Vine, Mike Harding & Mark Radcliffe - who isn't as wild as he was on Radio 1 at 23:00)
Plus he generally has some great guests on, & the repartee with Sally 'Traffic' Boazman is well worth the listen alone :lol:

(for example; he had Ed Alleyne-Johnson on a few months ago with his electric violin & that was amazing, it made me dig out my old tapes of his)

So anyway I was thinking as I listened earlier to the 'Cruising With Johnnie Walker' section that runs at !8:00 every night.
Tonights tracks were;
'Suicide Blonde' INXS
''Down In The Tube Station At Midnight' The Jam
'Whiskey In The Jar' Thin Lizzy

Out of the 3, only the last one does anything for me.

But I got to wondering, what would be your playlist for 'Cruising'?? [/i]
They only play 3, but on the submitance form 6 are allowed, in case you choose something that's already on his playlist (no naughty words, or questionable lyrics)

I think I could happily go along with;
'The River' [/i]Bruce Springsteen

'I'm Still In Love With You' Steve Earle & the Del McCoury Band

'The Green Fields Of France' [/i]The Men They Couldn't Hang

'Ring Of Fire' Johnny Cash (I think it's the Mexican trumpets that make this stand out)

'Our Town' Iris Dement

'Cherry Blossoms' Tindersticks (such an unusual musical style & lyrics)

TULL:
funny you should mention Ed Alleyne -Johnson, once set up the sound at a gig with him and his wife Denyze in scarborough great night he even produces that sound live, i have his albums and the two with his wife, their version of White rabbit and somebody to love are brilliant

hobbit:
Thought you were on about the stuff that comes out of a bottle ther for a minute :wink:

Bush Tucker Man:

I've got the first 2 cassettes

Might buy them on CD, as they're getting 'past it'
