speeding cameras

<< < (2/3) > >>

sparkes:
I wonder why the company who makes some parts for the uk speed camera is currently very busy making a LOT of parts.

Did they order several thousand before announcing the above?

GADGETP38:
so then; they are going to add more; shicanes, speed bumps and the like........?
They also keep banging on about co2 emissions.

That's what gets me............

A vehicle travelling at a constant speed puts out far less emissions than a vehicle that has to keep slowing down, speeding up, changing gear etc through all these calming measures.

Again, government arguements don't stack up.

--- Quote from: "davidlandy" ---The government seem to have finally acknowledged that speed cameras arent all they are cracked up to be!

they are gonna spend the revenue monies on traffic calming and road changes instead to improve safety rather than just more cameras.

that gets my vote!

I believe it when I see it :( the cops were sitting in rock n' bowl car park (Kettering) yesterday with doing stops using there speed gun, and just down the street the main set of traffic light had stopped causing chaos (outside the Sainsbury’s). And still 30 min’s later cop hadn't moved and where still doing speeders   as all the traffic was building up

prowler:
£97,000 was spent on speed bumps in our village, but if you have a car with a track wider than a Mini, you miss them [ Square raised blocks they are ]. Absoluteley useless.
The only speed reducing measures we have are the Mothers who park their cars on the pavement while they take the kids to nursery, it brings the whole village to a standstill while they stand there yapping. And these mothers live less than 30 yes 30 yards from the nursery, Every bl!!dy morning and evening.
Rant over.... I feel much better now.

V8MoneyPit:
Ultimately, the only thing that will make a difference to average vehicle speeds is to put more vehicles on the road
