Garage floor sealing

(1/2) > >>

ep90:
I want to seal my garage floor.  I see Screwfix sell various paints for this.  Has anyone done this before, got any recommendations?

I am looking to keep the floor clean (so I can wipe up oil spills etc).  An alternative would be some rubber matting of some sort, any tips?

Cheers

I haven't painted a garage floor but have done a Toolroom

you need to make sure that the floor is clean and oil free, seal the floor with a suitable liquid PVA??, prime it then paint it.

Unless you use the speacilist paints expect it to lift if scratched etc sometimes i wonder to save a bit of the readys it would be ok to use extrior gloss on floors and yearly repaint!!!!!!!!!!

i got some fantastic paint from ebay - it's an epoxy type paint where You mix the activator in with the paint - sets rock hard and is very easy to cleanand gives a brilliant shiny finish.
Only problem with it is :
A - it's not cheap and
B - you have to work bloody fast to get it down before it goes off , plus you have to wait a minimum of 24hrs before using the floor.
The chap on eblag is selling it for about £78 for 10 litres which did my single garage with 2 coats , but i can highly recommend it.

Thanks for they replys,  I had a look in eBay theres loads of people selling epoxy paint on there!

I've also seen this http://www.itsasteel.co.uk/products/flooring.htm which looks nice, buts its £28 a sqr meter!

They do them in red, white and blue - I could do a massive union jack!

It's a pity you're so far away as our very own Andy works for a paint & coatings manufacturers.
He got me 20litres(?) of Bronze Green enamel for (I 'm sure it was?) £10.00
