Had fun with the 101 in Wales yesterday, apart from early afternoon when I noticed I no longer had any lights, at all (brake, headlights, indicators, etc).

I've perused the wiring diagram, but tbh it's not much help, as the way I read it, the lights should never have worked in the first place, because there's no 12v feed to any of the lighting circuit!

Fortunately when testing the fuses I accidentally shorted across two fuses and found the lights started working again.  So the fuse for the lighting circuit has lost its 12v feed (the one that doesn't exist according to the wiring diagram).  That meant I could effect a temporary fix by running a separate 12v feed straight to the fuse, but it'd be nice to work out what went wrong.

Which leads me to this - preferring to post a message about what's happened rather than actually go out into the cold with a multimeter and try to trace a few miles of wiring!

So out I trot, clad in overalls, and what do you know - it's started working again.

I did get a bit enthusiastic about some puddles yesterday, so I'm assuming something got wet which shouldn't have.  Ah, an intermittent electrical fault, what joy.

While I'm wearing the overalls I may as well take the starter off AGAIN and see if I can get that sorted too!

I had a plan a while back to open up a drive-through WD40 bath.

Then charge Land Rover owners to be towed through it like a sheep dip.

Maybe I should reconsider!

If you still have the MOD convoy/infrared lighting then I would wager your problem is either with the infrared switch (the one with the sprung locking thingamy) or the rotary master switch. Both tend to play up being Lucas, but I would go to the infrared one first.
