I already do the sideways bit on my day to day car, but I still have the original wheels incase I need them for any checks  :D

far as I know,you only have to have a certain amount of tyre covered by mudguard(measured looking side on in degrees)
As long as this is covered, tyres can protrude front and rear. Ill check in the mot manual later for any further info
