Steering Guards & front shock mounts

Mike, I don't really understand the benefit of a steering guard. From what I can see they don't really add that much protection and they are extra weight and something else to get hung up on!
It tends to be the drag link that bends anyway and a steering guard certainly doesn't protect that.

imho its always the track rod that gets banana-ed. So make that as over engineered as possible. The only advantage of most steering guards is that they push debris down and away from the steering box and drop arm (oh and they do horrible things to pheasants too). The next most vulnerable thing is the diff casing.

Track rod is sumo barred & diff casing is reinforced on the crown with 6mm flat bar,,need to pur something in the gap :wink:

just bought the ell cheepo guard from rebel,
now gonna atattch the racer to it & give it a pasting,means i know only have to make a recocvery point & the racer can go back out toplay

got the guard today & instead of the bolt together one ive got the welded one pice 1 :evil: oh well,does the same job,away to trial fit it tonight
