steering vibration

Ive just fitted a new second hand steering box(perfect condition) on my disco 200tdi and ever since I fitted it I have a vibration that is felt throughout the car at between 30 and 60mph,it goes away if I take my foot off the throttle and it gets slightly worse when I go around left hand and right hand bends,its not like a wheel shake like when the wheels want balancing,its definitely a vibration,by the way the vibration was not there until I fitted the box.Any ideas anyone????im scratching my head.

i think you need to check all the steering components one by one.

the old steering box may of been hiding a number of other faults

check all bushes balljoints etc.

I have a similar problem on my 300TDi, but it goes smoother if I ease of the accelerator.

It turns out it is a UJ on the front prop, so I bought 2 and a new rubber gaiter for around £20.00 from paddocks (not put em on yet cos it is damned cold to be under the car at the moment!!!)

steering play in a landrover ,finding the cause is like tring to find the holy grale  :? if its a fairley new box have a look at the steering damper,check for eccessive play in bushes track rod ends as mentioned above scratch head give wheel good kicking hit with lump hammer and finally settle down and join the quee for any further developments could be all the above or none of the above but best of to check in a logical order if you replace a part/component then also pays to replace any bushes that are related to that part/component dont forget to check tyre preasures!
