Heater Blower
TUFFTEE:
How far do i have to Dig down to get to the Heater Fan? So that i can Squirt some oil on the Bearing?
In other words What do i have to remove to get to it?
Cos its squealling like a stuck Pig!
hobbit:
You're lucky, its sqeaking mine is just dead, was bit chilly yesterday running round :)
The motor can be removed fromt he drivers side, but not sure the layout insde the heater, so where the bearings are is a different matter, need someone with one out to look at
Waiting to look at one to change it, but its going to be a swine to do, although I think you can remove the motor from the unit, still a lot of faffing about
TUFFTEE:
I just need to give the Fan a squirt of WD? Before it Packs Up?
johnty:
I changed the heater motor on mine when i first got it (after all the smoke poured out of the dash :( ) I think getting in to oil it will require a similar approach as the actual motor part is well tucked into the heater box. Personally I would seriously consider replacing it if your going to have to dig into it for oiling. Quick run down to get to it
Disconnect heater coolant pipes
Remove steering wheel
Remove Instrument cluster
Remove indicator and wiper switches
Remove Passenger Grab Handle
Remove Dash
Remove Heater box
Remove all fixing and split heater box
Do everything in reverse to re assemble.
Now it sounds bad , but id say it would take say about 30 minutes to get it out (probably quicker , but i can never find the tools i need).and by far the hardest part for me was getting the steering wheel off.
hobbit:
You say remove the dash, would raising it be enough to take the motor out, as my prob is just the motor or reostat, I dont have to remove the whole unit
Also how many fixings are there round the dash itself to release it?
