Fuel Line Bleed

(1/2) > >>

Andy.:
Did a fuel line bleed yesterday and think it was worth it. Quite a bit of air came out of the system.

Followed the directions in the haynes manual. Loosen the bleed screw located on the fuel filter head. Then pumped the lever on the fuel lift pump until fuel free from air bubbles emerged. Then I retighten the bleed screw. Then i turned on the ignition to activate the stop solenoid and continued to pump/prime the system.

Then the manual says pump untill firm resistance is felt, then pump a few more times.

This resistance was never found.

So is my fuel lift pump faulty  :?:

Any thoughts?

lee celtic:
Hi Andy

I think the pump works on a cam and if the said cam is in the wrong place then you arn't really pumping you are just lifting the lever up and down try turning the engine over a tiny bit or winding it over with a spanner it helped on mine when I had a similar problem and a  mate said the above (worth a go and costs now't )  :D

Andy.:
Tried that, starting the engine and then trying the lever once more but still got no resistance  :?:

Cheers anyway  :)

Bush Tucker Man:
