(1/2) > >>

steve prosser:
Been working fitting new springs and shockers to the RR yesterday and today.
Fronts done no problem
Started on rears today, took shocker off went to unbolt the spring retainer, 1 bolt snapped the other rounded the corners off!!! Great start!
after a few mins wondering quite how to drill them out, noticed the the bracket on the axle casing was falling apart(no metal just Rust), with a pull on the spring the whole lot fell off!!!!!!!
OHHH SH?T!!!!
On inspection the other side is the same
Im sure im not the first to have this happen to them
Hows anyone got over this?
Your help and advise will be gratefully recieved

paul_humphreys:
You have to make them up and weld them on. Or get another axel.

Range Rover Blues:
Probably just as well you caught it when you did.

Dave:
You are lucky to have court it and not had it come of going round an island or somewhere similar.  I had the front go, panard bracket snap on me. I found it was as easy to get a second hand axel, there are some on ebay.

MuddyMike:
When mine went the same way I fabricated new ones from bits of steel and welded them on in situ.

Mike
