anti-social neighbours

rokcrawlin:
An update for you all 57 vehicles have had the new anti theft err .....cream put on them, fortunately all the drivers noticed it before driving off and the residents responsible have told them not to put the cars on or near their property or there will be more forms of protest, we have got the whole neighbourhood motivated now and intend to cause as much legalised hassle as we can until the council, police and education authority start sorting the problem out.

Bush Tucker Man:

--- Quote from: "sogster" ---I was always under the impression that the fire brigade can cause as much damage as they like trying to get to a fire!
Cars were parked all over the place, and double parked along the roadways. The fire engine just smashed its way through to get to its fire point. The other two engines did excactly the same when they arrived.

The  threat to 'life & limb' will surely be sufficient justification for the 'instant removal of vehicles.

I'll try & find out off a crew, as we tend to get perhaps 7-8 shouts a week at the Hospital (toasters mainly , as the staff buy their own for rest-rooms. NHS Dualits don't cause problems due to their design)

If cars are parked outside A&E, the Ambulance crews/service are not liable for damages if they strike a car whilst urgently manoeuvring.

Undoubtedly if  we had a 'MAJAX situation' we'd be moving as many of them as we could ourselves before all the 'Blue Light Brigade' turned up
(thankfully, I've only had to do a MAJAX practice with the chemical suits, de-contamination tent & shower

but  the law state's that if you cant get off ur drive  u can move it but not to get into ur drive    shame  [!Expletive Deleted!] um

Lostboy:
We have a major problem with double parking in Edinburgh, recently a fire crew had problems getting to an incident due to it. Fortunately they managed to rescue the mother and child, but it was a 'just in the nick of time' sort of thing.

As it turns out, the fire brigade don't have the right to move vehicles, and double parking and obstructing the streets is apparently legal    (or so we are told) according to both the police and the council - and it is going to take the council at least a year to put local legislation in place to stop it

My local counciller seemed to get a little upset when I told him I felt that our  local and national government was failing in it's duty to protect the public - this is not a new problem, it's been happening for years - it's going to take someone to die in a fire before it gets sorted

Most of our politicians are pathetic, weak, self centred egotists, prefering to try and fix soft problems and issues that won't affect their chances of getting re-elected the next time around rather than standing up and taking the courage to fix some of the real issues this country faces.

Rant over, sorry folk but I got stopped and searched by the police on my way to work this morning for I suspect nothing more than the fact I was wearing a hoodie - well it was 0 degrees outside this morning.

It's been a couple of years since I worked in highways but as far as I can remember technically it is an offence to park at the side of the road as you are obstructing the highway, it's permitted because it's considered to be de minimus. Anything that's not de minimus is obstruction, such as double parking, and the police have the power of arrest to remove the obstruction.
