front diff change

(1/2) > >>

hobbit:
Ok one I've never done, can you withdraw the whole of the front driveshafts to change the diff, with it having uj's in them, will they fit through hub

Or have i got to pull both hubs off as well

Paul:
Undo the ring of bolts on the end of the axle casing and remove the hubs complete    You will only have to take them out enough to allow the halfshafts to exit the diff.

Dave:
Kev i did it like paul said worked a treat

hobbit:
Yes I thought so, like on the discos then, just wondering if it was possible another way, the only thing with the series  axles is that the fixings have had longer to rust away

Was pondering re vamping the spare axle I've got, then swapping it, considering the other bits and bobs I want to do on the axle, might as well do that in the dry, when drop the lot

No probs

Miniman:
I put 90 diffs in my series 2.25 diesel and it brill now. Big step from 3 to 4th but even tho its a diesel it pulls fine. 85mph tops after 20mins on a flat long road but that is hammering it. 70mph not a problem. 55mph sound great for the engine and I can come all the way down to 30mph in forth gear and still pull off in 4th. Great for long drives and saves ya engine life.
