woody:
here is some info
http://tractorbits.com/infofiles/TVO.asp
though it seems to be somwhere between petrol and heating oil

Manicminer:
My father used to have a Ferguson tractor at one time. It used to run on Tractor Vaporizing Oil. It was the first thing that I ever drove (as soon as my legs could reach the peddles).

You had to start it up on petrol and when it was warmed up enough, you turned the tap over to TVO. You had to remember to turn it over to petrol a few minutes before switching off or you had trouble the next time you came to start it

It became hard to source TVO some time at the end of the 70's. My father found out that it would run just as good on Kerosene.

DIL:
We use 28sec heating oil in our old tractors as TVO, some people mix a small amount of petrol with it.

Never heard of any one use it in a diesel engine, as it needs to be vapourised and have a spark.

JD LWB:
