Spring question

(1/6) > >>

Digsit:
I've read some old threads but cant find any answers to my question so.......

I've seen mm4x4 and paddocks are doing 2" springs and shocks for £230.00 ish a set. mm4x4 are offering blue springs and Paddocks are doing Britpart yellow ones.

Any clues as to which ones are better/worse. Are there different ratings for these? I use her for towing the caravan as well as off road stuff.

All advice/comments gratefully received

Mace:
Cliff, I can only speak from my own experience and that is, I have the paddocks/britpart yellow springs. They were cheap and certainly a vast improvement on the old ones. That said if the old ones were knackered then anything would be an improvement. I went for +1" on the front and +1.5" on the back. With the propcomp shocks it's a great BUDGET package. Handles well on and off tarmac, absorbs cobbles and the like very well, and I've nothing to complain about off-road.

Last week I towed our caravan up to North Yorks, spent 2 days off-roading around Langdale and towed the 200 miles home again. My only conclusion was with all the load it could have done with slightly stiffer rear springs so with hindsight I should have bought +2" for the back.

Thumbs up from me :-)

P.S. mine are 200lbs front and 220lbs rear.

Thanks for that Mace :D

What is swinging me towards the MM4x4 deal is that they give you a choice of Procomp or DeCarbon shocks for the same price. Everyone else wants a good chunk more if you want DeCarbon (+ £100 at Paddocks  ).
Do you think they would be selling a 'lesser' quality spring to allow for the difference :? (or am I just too cynical)

i had the mm4x4 2" kit on thew disco - more like 1" nd once i fitted the bumpers sills etc they sagged even more, the rear end struggled the most

the best budjet set up i found was with pro comp shocks and bearmach springs but even they needed upgrading to cope with the bolt ons and gave quite a harsh ride

the rangie's fitted with all old man emu stuff and its the dog dangly bits, nice firm ride no wallow but really smooth over the ruff stuff

my advice if its your every day car would be to save up for the OME stuff as i'm not too convinced on the mm4x4 springs

Steve

Digsit:
What would I be looking at for the OME springs shocks. Is anyone doing a good deal? I see Mark at Discoparts sells em
