Fog Fitting - The Hard Way

(1/2) > >>

Horness:
Has anyone here had the bumper assembly to pieces on a D2?

I am thinking of fitting a pair of Hella Micro DE fog lights into the bumper of my D1 (98 300 TDi) in a similar style to the D2's bumper.  The main reason is that I plan to trim the lower section at the same time, and don't want any lights underneath.  Fitting would mean cutting 2 holes into the bumper, not the end caps.

Are the "insets" to the fogs available as a seperate part, or are they part of the bumper?

Advice & opinions appreciated.

PS:  Hopefully resulting in this:

think the only way is to get an old bumper beam off a td5 & cut the brackets off & then weld them to the back of your bumper, but be warned the fogs are expencive  ,

I already have the fogs (well, awaiting delivery, thank you eBay), which come with all the mounts.

It's more to do with the presentation of the whole thing once I cut a couple of holes into the bumper.  Then comes the angle of the beam once they are mounted into the bumper.

''Inserts'' do you mean the round painted bits ?, if so they are part of the end caps, from memory you will have to do quite a bit of trickery with bolts ect to make them fit, hope this make ssense  ,

Thanks John.

Once I get the lights and crawl under the bumper of my 300, I'll see what I can come up with... Blue Peter Stylee..
