Steering box
Dave:
Thank a lot guys i have to work 6 till 6 tonight and then im off for 5 days, shouldn't take that long i hope. So i will let you know how i get on.
hobbit:
Might be worth changing the o-rings on the pipes while you have them out, didn't do it on the last change I did, and it had a nick in the rubber
Dave:
I have new part so i made a start the steering knuckle on the back refuses to move and one of the pipes at the top wont budge as i try to move it it's starting to turn the spanner not the nut "spanner tight fit" nut soft as ****.
Any ideas to get them off with out recking the pipe :?: .
hobbit:
Spray well with oil, let it soak, you will be able to reach one of the nuts fairly easily, after that one is out, you can gain better access to the second one
After soaking the unions, if you can crack the nut, you can then try to loosen the hold of the rust on the pipe through the nut, even as far as a gentle tap, just a matter of persistance, failing that, undo the pipes from the pump end instead and remove the whole steering box & pipes together
Dave:
Thanks Kev soaking in wd40 now. There is no room to get to the second nut properly with a spanner. Thought this was easy
