door wont open

Help i borrowed my dads 300tdi disco to come to winchester from hemel to visit swmbo, only borrowed dads because when i checked my defender i noticed loads of oil on the wheel so i gues oil seal in the axel, the problem is he wasnt keen on me taking it and said dont break it
well guess what i get here and cant open the tailgate feels like the handle is stuck in the up position and i cant shift it, ive tried unlocking it with the key but it wont budge any ideas before  i get shot!!!  :(  :(

Pry out the Land Rover badge on the rear door and squirt a load of WD 40 in there. That will sort it.
