thermidorthelobster:
My experience of the deep blue was in the 200Tdi Disco - high tide mark was a good couple of inches above the door mirrors at the front, and cleared the spare tyre on the back door. So quite deep then, and for quite a long time - I reckon at least a minute of clenched sphincters before it sank enough to get traction again.
Fortunately everything was well waterproofed, although the CD player didn't survive. It's amazing to experience a diesel engine running under a couple of feet of water for a while.
Nobody got a photo because I think they were too worried

There's one in Wakefield that a good few years ago (20-ish?) used to be driveable in a normal car & you'd only get the tyres wet; not even the rim!I used to do it in my Chevette & Subsequent 'Sooty-Mobile' (Bedford Rascal)
It's listed as NewMillerDam

James ('Jim-Willy') backed out of trying out his new snorkel at NewMillerDam today & I did offer a full photographic service, plus free recovery
