90 Carbs and Hood Sticks

doctorvaltar:
Hi everyone, I'm new here!!

I've got a couple of questions.

I bought a 90 Hybrid, sitting on a Range Rover chassis with 3.5 V8 and 4 speed auto box. Was running (just) like a dog, replaced all the engine electrics and it's now firing on all 8 but still not running right. It's got a really old Weber off a Ford and I've decided to go back to the original carbs.

What's better - SU's or Stromberg, bought a pair of both with manifolds at an autojumble over the weekend?

And does anyone have a diagram of where all the pipes go?? The Weber has a home made mainfold and it's very different to what I've just bought!

Secondly, has anyone got any ideas where I can get a full length set of hood sticks. There's usually a set on eBay every week but I'm getting fed up of waiting a week and getting out bid with 3 seconds to go!!! I don't mind buying brand new but am reluctant to pay £300 plus. www.allwheeltrim.co.uk is the cheapest I've found but if anyone has a set lying around or knows a shop that sells them, would appreciate hearing from you.

Many thanks for reading

James

Ps Anyone interested in buying a '84 Series 111 SWB petrol in Marine blue with truck cab and big wheels?

Which SU's have you got. I'd still go with them over strombergs and strombergs over weber/etc by some way.
You might want to look athttp://www.burlen.co.uk/ for help as you'll probably have worn componentry and at the age of those things an overhaul wouldn't hurt

doctorvaltar:
Thanks,

I'm glad someone agreed to go with the SU's, I had a look on the internet and the general opinion is they seem to be a bit less trouble and easier to set up. I bought an overhaul kit today and have almost finished now. I found out they are HS6's, I'm told they're a bit old but should be ok.

Just got to work out where all the pipes go when I the new manifold on the car.
