The bracket will slide into the gap (just, I think) but there's no room for the head of the bolt ... and no way to get it in there either :roll:

Now, you see, I was hoping to avoid the whole "hacksaw" thing 'cos it's just too blooming hard :wink:  Surely somebody must have an electric powered, hand held thick panel cutting thing ... surely :?  :wink:

you mean an angle grinder :lol:  or a plasma cutter would be good but i dont have one of them

i had same problem and just drilled straight through 8mm galvanised steel plate treated hole with rust proof and a touch hammerite all is cool and i know it works cos all i did all day sunday on challenge was winch winch and more winching
