This is the exhaust on
Note no partical filter

(you can see a wading plug too)

The heavy duty spring retainers from Devon 4x4
(you can see why you need stronger ones...how thin are the original parts!)

Fitted

And because i never took a good picture of the fitted rear cone before...

Lots.
Lockers of some sort, a winch, maybe new wheels and tyres, maybe flared wheel arches.
There are plans a foot which will help me deciede which route to take this car.

Tim - as these are on my next shopping list from Devon (winch bumper is awsome by the way - never seen one in the flesh until mine arrived!) - how should they be fitted?

they should be fitted i believe so they are front to back in the same plane as the chassis rather than diagonal

I will be rotating them around soon.
Although, the only reason i put them that way was so that the D44 logo could be seen.
With them in the proper position it wont be seen.

That's right... they will work as Jake has them... they just work a little better when lined up as above

When i changed the radiator i removed the plastic rad style plug from the thermostat housing (i was told it would realease the air bubble's???) and it fell apart.
I guess the heat got to it :roll:
I try'd to get out the remaining plug but i goosed up the thread

So i used the spare plastic plug from the old rad.
But, i would'nt go in because of the goosed thread.
So, as tempoary bodge, i hammered it in.
(yes, with a hammer :shock: )
I was in Devon recently so i went to see Tim and brought a nice new ally plug for the hole.
I did'nt want to kill the thread so i brought a tap to re-cut the thread. (1/2 BSP, Ã‚Â£26)
My first go at tapping a thread went well and now its all sorted \:D/
Now i can drive it without worring about the old plastic one flying out again :lol:

Thanks Beast & Tim. Are they marked in any way to say which way they should be fitted? Or does it all rely on how the vehicle sits?

If you look at the 'cone' it is made up of 2 arches which cross at a point. Align one of these front-rear and one side-side.. (basically rotate through 45 degrees from where Jake has them pictured above).

Like I say, it's not essential.. they'll work in any orientation... but I couldn't resist the opportunity to nag Jake :twisted:

As soom of you are aware i've started turning my Discovery back to standard.
Here are some pictures of the work already done
Tank guard, heavy duty rear bumper, hi lift & hi lift carrier removed

Steering guard removed

The Scorpion lift has been removed and Britpart springs and Armstrong dampers hace been fitted and all the standard suspension items.
Here's the front minus the Devon 4x4 turrets and relocation cones

here's the rear minus the relocation cones and heavy duty spring retainers

Here's a picture of it looking *pimped*
Lowered with big rubber :lol:

Looks well strange now

On the plus side it cruised home from Devon tonight with ease.
Amazing how different a car feels when back to standard from a lift!

Today i removed the Scorpion Racing rock sliders

and refitted the original plastic sills

I also removed the D44 rasied spare wheel carrier

Only a few bits left to do now
includes:-
Refitting the anti roll bars
Fit the new 245/70R16 General Grabber AT2 tyres and store the 235/85R16 Goodyear MTR's
Removing the QT radius arms and refitting the original ones
Remove the QT diff guards
Remove the Scorpion Racing winch bumper
Fit normal bumpers
Fit the normal spare wheel carrier
and get some new style items (A bar, spots, new roof lights, dog guard, light guards, side steps)
Oh yeah, get it valeted...its minging!!

I've done some more now
Here's the tyres being removed

I fitted some bumpers from a 200 Discovery and now have my General Grabber all terrain 2 tyres (245/70R16)

I ftted a rather smart new spare wheel cover too

Just got to refit the anti roll bars today (with new bushes and ball joints) and removed the QT front radius arms (which are sold)
All that remains is to refit the original rear radius arms.
Done
