Lights - what lights?

I've kept the standard units (mainly cus it's easier and cheaper), check the reflectors are free from corrosion, they tend to get full of water so get dull with age.

I put new ones on mine as they were an MOT failure - I added some 80/100 watt bulbs (for off road use honest) and they are brilliant <no pun intended!>.

I've got a set of 4 roof spots as well, and to be honest unless it's very low vegetation or water getting in the way of the lights then the roof lights are not a patch on the normal ones (they are good for lighting up the ground to the side and just in front tho!)

I finished up with new headlight units in the 200, then put hi power bulbs in, and upgraded the wiring to take the extra wattage, can see at night now, even when i flash them in daylight I can see the lights off other vehicles panels

that's a very good point - standard 200 tdi didn't have relays for the lights - so if you upgrade you need to bung in a couple of relays.  I used one side of the wiring to wire in two relays to do both lights - can't see any major reason to have split left/right

I used 4 relays in total, good for adding extras,also there is a set of 100w spots wired into the beams, Using the original wires in the loom as the relay switching wires, on either side of the car, bit boots and braces but the relays are not that expensive and also if i lose one relay I will still have the other light working
