flippin sunroof leaking again

<< < (2/3) > >>

Wanderer:
I used some olive oil on the rubbers on mine and it came up like new and sealed it back up again. It may be that the rubber isn't as pliable (spooling)

J B:
try cleaning the rubber with wd40 and a rag

i hate to sound smug, but when  i bought my disco i made sure it had no sunroofs 8)

petergalileo:
Mine used to leak too, I have a 1990 V8 but I assume the sun roofs are the same.  I tried everything, in the end it turned out to be the metal hinges towards the front of the roof, they had been bent slightly, I bent them back, no leaks and now I dont open it !

Thay are a bit of a waste of time anyway, opening the windows or turning on the air con is much better :)

beast5680:
strangely my 1990 V8 doesnt leak but my 98 300tdi does   i,ve clean all round the seal and mech now and reshut it so i,ll see what happens, i,m suspecting as its electric the little plastic rollers that run in the track may be a bit worn and not clamping the glass down as tightly as they used to in the closed position

Horness:
When my 98 TDi developed a leak (read: waterfall) from the rear sunroof, it turned out to be the frame mounting to the roof.

Only fix was to have a new frame fitted, I tried everything.  Cost was £180 for a new matching sunroof, fitted, but no leaks whatsoever since.

Probably not what you wanted to hear.  :D

I hate sunroofs.  Next vehicle,  no sunroof.  Especially not TWO of the damn things!
