Stripes:
got a disco for SWMBO and now thats her moter!!!!
funny how she never liked it till she drove it
now i want some thing i can scratch up with no worries
am looking at seris 3 as can get one thats tax exempt and therefore cheaper on the insurance
trying to figure out if 88 or 109
am leaning to a 109 as space is allways good
but offroad will be hampered
the question is how much?

Quite a bit, you'll have a very long motor with a rubbish steering lock, no power steering and unless you fit gas shox n paras not much axle articulation.

Dave:
109 has Taller tyres as standerd so better in the rutts and not quite so bouncy on the tarmac as the 88

You'll struggle to get a series 3 thats tax exempt as they started in 1971 so there is only really 2 years of production BUT you'll get loads of Series 2's and there is not alot of difference, particularly if its a Series 2a.

The little baby is great for green laning, alot of fun BUT if you have a family and you intend to travel with them and the horse gear, think again.

A 109 will give you AT LEAST 5 seats and a HUUUUGGGEE boot BUT be a dog (ish) off road.

Personally, I'd go 88

And in terms of price they will start at £500 and head upward to £1500 for a smart one.  There are more above the price BUT if your looking to lane it, the £500 to £1000 mark will be fine

Look in local papers and ebay, avoid the Land Rover mags as they go for too much dosh in there on my opinion
