Vacuum Pumps

(1/2) > >>

ian_s:
I noticed in Minimans sig that he has fitted a vacuum pump off a peugot to his S3 diesel.
this got me thinking, as the vacuum on my diesel is a bit unreliable (only builds a vacuum when on the overrun)
so, what i want to know is:
what car did it come from? (i know it says peugeot, but which model?)
was it an easy fit?
how is it driven?
got any pics?
has anyone else got a similar setups?
are there other cars that have a seperate vacuum pump?

TIA
Ian

hobbit:
Some vehicles have the vac pump on the back of the alternator, might be an easier rout to look

cstokes:
I still have the vacuum pump conversion kit that i had on my series 2.25d.

I consists of a:
peugeot 205d vac pump
Belt
A specially made boss to go between water pump pulleys
Mounting bracket

The only things that are missing are a second standard water pump pulley and the adjuster bracket. Which i could show you how to make, was just made out of some six mm plate.

I you intrested let me know am only in leicestershire.

Hi fella.   Why did you not just ask me. The pump is off a peugeot 205 Diesel. I had to make a bracket that goes onto the engine to hold the pump and I welded a extra pully onto the pully on my alternator then all I did was adjust it so that the pump was as close as possible to the other pully and then put a piece of string round the two pullys to measure how big the belt has to be. Then went to my local Autofactor and got him to find me a belt to match....sorted... I can get a photo for you if you wish...

ian_s:
heh, didnt think of that  :?
so its a fairly easy conversion? good.
does it also mean i can remove the butterfly from the air intake?
as far as i can tell, its only there to create a vacuum when your off the throttle.

Stanton boy: how much do you want for it?
