Rear winch mount?
TimM:

No, that's why I thought my 'plan' might be flawed.....
Wanderer:
How do you plan to keep the departure angle Mike and still be able to open the door?
Or will it be removable?

my departure angle is already confined by my important towbar
but if you look at the picture below at the front winch bumper i will be using the same idea
obviously the chassis at the rear is a bit more of a problem
but the fabricator and i seem confident that it can be done
inital measurements indicate it will stick out to the rear 2 more inches in the middle
and 1 inch lower
and at the same time well modify the towbar to get it higher
says he hopefully
mike
i can deal with that

I'll be interested in what you come up with Mike.
I've got the same winch bumper on the front and have come a cropper a couple of time because of the extra length plus a roller fairlead on the front.
On the rear I've got a Scorpion recovery bumper with removable towbar. I've not hung the rear up in a long time whereas it used to plough with the old towbar.
I can't imagine how you'd get a winch in there without losing a fair bit of departure angle.
My thoughts are to use the towbar receiver and use a demountable but the problem would be the torsional effect (if that's a real word never mind the right words) with an L shaped mount sliding into the receiver ending with the winch sitting a couple of inches higher than the bumper.
Good luck with it.
chuggaman:
i think ill need the luck ed
with the lift and setup ive got
i havnt had a problem yet with angles
but now that youve jinxed me
ill probably have the most useless vehicle at whaddon
the bolts that utilise your bumper recovery point are the only real support to mount the rear winch(bumper incorporated)
if you know what i mean
hopefully ill have the rear bumper ready at whaddon to test/allow others to see
here goes
mike
