the latest piece of anti 4X4 madness

Spooky:
It's all (Edit) if you ask me - I don't drive like a loon, and (as has already been said) you can see further from our 'killing machines' ...

Too much 'Political Correctness' again. :x

BTW, I voted for the last option ...

UDTrev:
I just voted for #5 :)

The current status is :

Menace  26%
Minor irritation  5%
I'd Buy  13%
People can drive  27%
I have one 28%

Guess they not getting the stats they expected :)

Range Rover Blues:
Stickers warning of the "danger" of 4x4s?

then I need a sticker sying something like "warning, this 4x4 costs half as much to insure as a 1.4litre nissan micra so if you think I'M the problem you need locking up for your own safety"

Utter b******s, but then what do we expect? when did the facts get in the way of a witchunt?

BRO:
Statistics are meaningless  here...
15% in crease in 4x4 sales... from what? define 4x4!
4% decrease in 'car sales' - define 'car' - how many sold?

Greater chance of injury if hit by 4x4... Is ther a greater or lesser chance of actually being hit by a 4x4 - driver at the same speed as someone who otherwise would have been driving 'another vehicle' to perform the same job. With a higher driving position they have a better view and are more likely to see earlier and be able to anticipate things happening. - So I would think - same driver & conditions - less chance of hitting same pedestrian at same speed - probably less likely to hit at all - also pedestrian can see 4x4 much more easily & hear them coming better if fitted with AT type tyres

Similar thing with motorbike crash helmets... In some situations they do lower injury and save lives. In other situations they are a large cause of greater injuries or death - or even of the accident happening in the first place! - But we have no choice - we have to wear them by law!

My wife was complaing about some large woman in a 4x4 coming the opposite way on a very narrow road - window open one hand dangling cigarrete out of window - seemingly oblivious to everyone else tryng to avoid being hit by her vehicle. If she (other woman) wasn't driving a 4x4 it would be another large vehicle and her driving would be no better! - she does reinforce a sad stereotype though  :(

I see drivers everyday who would be bad whatever car they were in. In my experience 4x4 drivers are among the best and more courteous. Citroen Saxo drivers on the other hand.....
