ROOF LIGHTS

smith335:
here we go again!!!

got some roof lights(4 x 55w) need to wire them up , but i want to wire them so they are not linked to the main lights.
do i still need a relay?or just use the right cable, fuse, switch etc. and if so how would i wire it as post 85 on the relay would  not be used.

all so any ideas where i can get a 12volt feed from under the bonnet on a 90 , so i can wire my front spots in. i know how to wire these, just not sure where to get 12volts from, with out running a cable from under the passanger seat.

Xtremeteam:
doesnt matter if you are connecting the roof lights to the headlights or not you WILL have to use a relay unless you fancy practising fire fighting technuques,in stead of using the headlights to bring the lights on via a relay you would use a switch onto post 85 i think to switch the relay on(tim has a fab sketch/diagram) for doing this,

inregards to the 12v feed for the relay to then power the lights on my racer i took a feed from the battery master switch i went from there,on both mine & my dads defenders run a large ish cable from the battery box to a fuse box under the bonnet that is then split to power the lights/fans/2 tones etc

DIL:
For my spot lights i took the power from the starter motor.

As long as there is room for you to get another ring terminal on the pole with the battery lead you have a good permenant live.

SO I have now 4x100W lights (thanks Mikee!) so do I:

Put a 60amp relay in with relevant wires and wire all 4 in.  Nice that they will all come on together or:

Put two circuits in so I can switch the 2xfogs on and then the 2xdriving lamps on seperetly or:

Put two circuits in but have a single live feed to both relays so whn I flick the switch, they all come on the same time anyway?

What sort of ampage wiring?  Same as the relays (i.e 60 or 30amp?)
