Canary under bonnet

Kenny:
Strange one this. Recently when driving the 90 I put my foot on the accelerator and get a loud which I can only describe as a canary sound coming from the car. Sometimes it does not happen at all and never happens when stationaru. If I ease of the accelerator the sound fades and dies totally. Foot back just a touch and it's straight back.

I cannot see where it is coming from and am getting really frustated with the noise.

Any thoughts what could be causing this ?

Budgie:
I would be checking all the rubber pipes from the turbo to the inlet manifold to make sure they are tight and one of them doesn't have a hole in it.

You will only get the noise when driving cos' the engine is under load so the turbo will be working.

EvilEd:
On the Pajero, it's usually the exhaust manifold leaking due to the turbo boost....  Look for telltale soot signs round the manifold. Can also be on the inlet side too...

Easiest way to tell if it's related to the turbo On a Manual (Can be done on an auto too if you are careful)

Start her from cold and drive going up the gears as soon as possible (No Boost pressure) and keep the throttle light... No Squeak....

Now drop the gears to bring the revs up and use the throttle (Create high pressure boost) and you'll hear the squeak

EE

Kenny:
Turbo, Turbo I hear you say - he is a 2.5 NA the only turbo he gets is the sharp kick up the backside when stuck in the mud :)

U/J telling you enough's enough ;-)
