This might sound daft but what makes it a fab 50
it cannot just be the year alone
do they have extras :?:
what are they

It was, as it states, a 50th Anniversary edition. Land Rover produced variations for most important markets.
We got;
375 Defender 90's
4.0litre V8
Auto gearbox
Safari cage (not called a roll-cage, for litigation fears  )
Leather seats
Special trim items
Gunmetal grey 'FreeStyle' alloys
Number plaque on the off-side rear
See the 'Defender 50th' link (below) for a dedicated website
Current issue of 'LRW' features a 50th on the cover & an excellent article

1000 FreeLanders
Not too sure on the specific extras on this one (check out the albums on my 'WebShots')

1000 Discoverys
Lightstone leather on all 7-seats
'Boost' alloys
Stainless trim on inner sills
Radio/tape/ 6 CD multi-changer
Roof-rails
Available on all 4 variations, but initially no Tdi auto, introduced due to demand
Heated windscreen

100 Range Rovers
A high specification, that only really offered one 'premium' upgrade to SAT-nav & TV

I've only ever seen one on the road

All models were finished (for the UK market anyway) in 'Atlantis Blue', which changes colour between blue & green, dependant on the light striking it.
Discoverys were also offered in 'White Gold'

Other markets, ie; Japan offered white vehicles

Hope this fills some gaps in for you

Yes, and a badge.

Defenders had a metal badge with a stamped number.
FreeLanders had a badge on the B-post pillar
Range Rovers had a dashboard plaque I seem to recall (brochure down in basement 'snug')

I'll assume the Discovery had one, but I haven't seen one, and it's not mentioned in the brochure, so who knows??

50th Discovery on page 47(?) of the current issue of 'LRE'

Also features on 50th Defenders on both 'LRE' & 'LRW' this month.

The 'LRW' model belongs to James, who runs the 'Defender 50th' site listed in my signature

The 'LRE' model belongs to Chris from Doncaster, who also posts on the 'Defender 50th' web-site as 'Cyscrofer'

Both are very nice motors, Chris & another member (Allan) may put an appearance in at Langley Farm next weekend

Thanks Sean.
I've not seen one, or perhaps like the Discovery it is just assumed to be a standard vehicle due to the colour?

The Freelander doesn't get a mention in my brochure, I assume that it was either reprinted, or had a loose-leaf inserted when they went on sale?

A nice quartet of pictures Jake.

I've got a feeling I know who the 90 belongs to, but haven't got the mags to hand.
I'm sure he's on 'Defender 50th.com'

I saw a 'R' plated 50th Discovery on Saturday afternoon, heading east on the A64 near the 'Highwayman Cafe' (just to the east of York)
It was muckier than mine, I was pleased to see :D
