Would you be able to mount a winch to a series 3? If so would you require a special bumper as on the defenders? would you be able to fit one to a series? recommendations would be grateful for both winches and fitting.

Ben:
Before I bought my series 3, there'd been a winch on it. It basically used a "winch plate" which was bolted to the chassis between the wings - in front of the in-set grill, if you see what I mean. The piece of metal (like an apron) had to be removed to create enough space, but it definately wasn't a different bumper.

I think the winch / plate combination was bought from David Bowyer, but I'm not sure.

Hope this helps

Ben

Wingnut:
Winch sits very nicely on top of the chassis members and bumper in front of the grill, but as has been said it needs a winch plate which replaces the apron in front of the grill. The series 3 is ideal if you want to run the winch on a power take off from the engine. Type 'capstan winch' into the image search on Google and you'll find some examples of how they fit.

if you want a capston winch for a series that's in need of a spot of tidying up but otherwise good nick...  give us a yell :)

I just wanted to get some ideas about mounting etc, i would prefer to use an electric winch, but saying that got some other essentials to carry out first. Thanks for your help guys
