NO OIL PRESSURE ...SOB

(1/3) > >>

banditman:
Any ideas guys ?

Carb V8

Fitted with filter mod kit which point filter forwards in a Landy....

No oil pressure........

remove dizzy and spin oil pump with drill...........got pressure

Refit and start...................got pressure.......

Run ten minutes, pressure goes.........

repeat, and same again................

Doing me head in !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sharpshooter:
Sounds like the pump is knackered. Running when oil and engine cold, thicker oil and pressure.

10 mins later.

Engine warms, thinner oil, and passing the pump. :(

Range Rover Blues:
so check the pump, the oil pressure release valve, al that kind of stuff.  When you wizz up the pump on a warm engine, do yo get the pressure back?  if so it could be the oil pump drive itslef is toasted.

luffy:
Sounds to me like the pump or the pressure relief valve is worn and letting the warm thin oil to 'escape'.

It might also be worth changing the pressure switch as this may be being affected by the thinner oil.

hobbit:
Sounds like the same prob on the lightweight, the oil pressure drops right off on tickover when warm, but reasonably ok on running
