Roof or no roof

Just wondered how easy it is to off a hard top roof, in theory it is a question of nuts and bolts. However does it mean you have to remove the headlining etc.

head lining, whats one of those?

for mine, which dont have no head lining, its just a case of about 14 bolts, all on the inside of the car, so they should come off fairly easily.

The head lining depends on what has been fitted, as you are removing the sides and top in one piece, you are looking around the tub and across the top of the windscreen so not as drastic as removing the sides seperate from the roof

I used to take the hard top off my Series IIA everytime the sun came out...or if I wanted to get it into the garage (wouldn't fit otherwise).

I was going to do this but as i looked for all the bolt i noticed the seat belts were bolted to the side pillar of the roof, and the bolts at the seat box did not look as if they were going to play ball so never got around to it.

They do look cool with the roof off, i will do it one day.

I stopped to help a very nice chap with a series lightwait in very nice condition on friday. He had a flat but what he had done was brill he had cut out the sides and put canvas or if he wanted put the hard sids back in still got the roof, rear door and pillars. His wife said they roll up the sides when the sun comes out and put the hard sides back on in the winter.

I've put some hoops on it now and at the moment have a dutch lightweight canvas on it, they are ok for rolling up as well, looks well smart, also to remove the canvas and hoops onlty takes about 30 mins even less whei I replace the nuts with wing nuts, so not too bad there as well, just got to change the windscreen and then I can fit window tops to the doors the single windscreen has had its mounts re welded and dont match up the top of the door windows at the mo
