few mates round - plenty of beer / tea and it will be done in about 6 hrs

could do the clutch at the same time if needed.

Range Rover Blues:
You have to be a Superhero to do it without separating the engine and box, David's right.  Get some beers in and make those 'phone calls.

Did BB's rear crank seal. leave lump in, split gearbox from engine, removed front rear prop, turned box slightly and moved backwards to gain access.

Changed seal and clutch, all back together in 8 hours.

ps: shaft seal still leaks due to crank being worn.
pss: have fitted wading plug with hose connection/trap so water can't get back into bell housing, but oil can drain
