Whilst I've got that off...........
muddyweb:
That was the motto of the day today !
Took the 90 into the workshop today... the front diff pinion bearing has been needing to be changed for a while now. So, up on the ramps and off with the wheels. Now, I had to get the halfshafts out of the diff to get it out, so I thought I would check the CVs and swivel grease whilst I was at it.. so I pulled the hubs off and took the halfshafts out.
I noticed that one of the swivel seals was weeping a bit, and since I had most of the swivel apart I thought I might as well just be done with it and separate the swivels, take the chrome balls off the axle and change the seal.
Hmm... rusty balls  OK... swap them too. So at this point, I'm down to the axle casing on the front. The panhard rod bushes needed changing, so that came off next, and I noticed a bit of play in the radius arm to chassis bushes... ahh well.. whilst I've got it apart.........
At this point, I noticed that the axle casing itself is looking a bit crusty, as is the chassis.. well.. since there wasn't actually much connecting the two at the moment, I'll just take the axle off completely... so off it came !
Now I've got plenty of room under the vehicle to work, and since I can't paint the chassis very well until I sort out the leaking seal on the input of the steering box..... out it came !
Last thing... since the inner wings are looking a bit shabby... the front turrets came off too.. just to complete the set and make the painting exercise easier :-)
Refitting is the reverse of removal
Jake:
Eh, someones been busy!
Are you ever up my way Tim?
I could do with a hand
hobbit:
Funny got to change the front diff on one of the lightweights, having a spare axle, thinking it would be easier and keeping the vehicle onthe road, I will do the spare one up first
My lad asked me why?
Just got to show him this now to answer him
Colin 009:
I'm not worthy,
I bow before the,
I, who has enough trouble remembering to check my oil.

Trouble is... I have to be careful or I'll end up with nothing than a big pile of spares on the floor and a complete rebuild to do... I always seem to find something I'm not happy with, or want to change... too easily distracted I think :D
