Your Disco???     :D

Lostboy:
Possibly...

I could fit a roll cage to the disco, tidy up a couple of bits and pieces here and there and go out and race it tomorrow, but it's not ARC complient so I couldn't take part in the SLROC comps - would have to do the SORC events and my m8s are SLROC guys.... Add to the fact it's a lifted disco, which is not really the best thing for comping in.

The long term stratagy for the disco is doing some of the european challenge events like the Belgian and Hungarian (plus I'm looking at a bit of wander around Poland too)

Alternativly, buy something small with a big petrol engine to go nuts in. There are always plenty around and it means I could keep the disco for the other things. Problem is I've only just got room for the disco in the garage and nowhere to keep something else...

Plus there is just not quite enough money to keep two motors going  :(

Put simply;  GO DO IT!

Seriously Pete, give it a go.  Roll cage is a sensible mod anyway and I don't think you'll ever look back.

What is it that keeps you out of the ARC?  I haven't looked recently, but I don't think that there is much that keeps mine out of ARC events - not that I can afford to do any more!

Lifted springs won't help on the fast events, but on rough comps like you find in Scotland, they could well be ideal.  I'm going to have a look at potentially lifting mine for next year's Scottish to give me a little more travel (I'm not generally keen on the idea though.)  You just have to be a little more cicumspect on the corners...  On second thoughts, I'd better leave it as it is!

If there is anything I can help with, let us know!

Cheers

Hi there Henry,

It's the locking diffs that keep me out of the ARC - although the SLROC scruitineers I believe are more than happy to allow them if they have been disabled. Also I am not sure if removing the anti-roll bars would be an issue, I need to read the rules again.

The lift - it is really good for playing about in but I'm not convinced it's good for a comp motor, I'm thinking that what you loose in raising the centre of gravity is not made up for in the improved ground clearence - but given that I'm a newbie to racing perhaps I'm getting a bit ahead of myself considering such things lol!

But yeah, a roll cage is the next major investment for it, and then I think I'll maybe give a comp a blast and see how I get on  :P

Cheers! Have a good weekend!
