Sounds like a new seal is called for.... that much of a gap shouldn't be there unless there is something out of alignment with the hinges.

Leave it - its lets the water out as well as in!

:D I only noticed it tonight when I was using a wallpaper steamer to to get the tint off the windows. Nice splat of muddy water the back. :(
