Loose Roof

Investigating some banging & clattering I found that the roof of my D1 300TDi has parted company with the reinforcement rails & the roof bows on the nearside. Looking through various manuals it seems that a "semi-structural adhesive/anti-flutter material" is used to join the two items ? Can anyone confirm this or has replaced a roof ? Cheers.

Going by what I've seen on other vehicle roofs, not having to go into mine yet. Sounds like the reinforcement pieces across the roof which are normally held with a mastic type substance have come away, if so something like seam-sealer or other tubed type mastic would be the best way, pushed in between the metal and then with will go off and cut out the rattling

Thanks, I thought that might be it - can you/anyone recommend a suitable/reputable seam-sealer ?, cheers.

Brand wise, not really, but you want some thing that will not harden completely, a bit of flexibility will help
Even decorating filler will do the job, as long as its the flexible type
