I remember years ago when I was at college and working in the holidays, I was asked to deliver a Van to a new guy that was starting with the company the next day. THe last words from the MD were watch the brakes, they are not very good.
Any way I proceeded with caution and a full tank of fuel. - He wasn't joking about the brakes they were non existent. - I was thundering down the outside lane on the M5 heading for the M6 when it started to cough an splutter, I manged to get it to the hard shoulder and started to investigate - not only did the brakes not work neither did the fuel guage, I had been running on fumes.
I had to sit and wait on the hard shoulder for someone to come with a can of petrol so I could carry on and make the delivery.
I eventually got to where I was going and told the guy he would have to take me back to the office so I could get home. Any way the conversation went along the lines of this bloke he was going to work for, saying he had the reputation of a right B******d and a slave driver - after 30 mins of conversation I told him he was talking about my dad
He didn't know where to put himself. !!
