Need a good winch
iianorthants:
--- Quote from: "davidlandy" ---It could be that a lot of T-Maxs are giving trouble as proportionally there are an awful lot of T-Maxs being sold -they appear to be very popular.
Only until recently my warn had been trouble free but I have had to replace 2 solenoids to fix it.
Not sure that any winch will be completely trouble free but its how easy it is to get the bits to fix it that can be a key factor.

will prob have a look see if any good deals on superwinch then at billing, as have a very good after sales support, did see a duke for sale but waiting on reply if just a copy and if parts are avalible (duke look very big on USA)
scrub that duke are a cheap Chinese winch, self recovery don't work if winch fails
V8MoneyPit:
Got mine last year at Billing. Goodwinch were doing a VAT free deal.
Looked up the bumper last night and it came from First Four.

Just looked at their web site and I want one of those Shadow bumpers!!! Now if sexy is not too inappropriate for a bumper, then sexy it is
But seriously, the std Defender bumper is very well made. A year later and not a hint of corrosion.

Foden34ke12:
Different people seem to have different opinions... I think the warn are best personally but i do rate superwinch very highly.
I think as long as you can get parts you will be alright to be honest.
The key is maintenance, ie if you let the gears go rusty then obviously they won't work.

freeagent:
have you thought about a PTO powered winch...? they don't always look quite as cool as the latest electric creations but are tough, very reliable and parts are available overnight from PG Winches or superwinch themselves.
i paid around £200 for the PTO powered superwinch i'm currently fitting to my truck, the list price when it was new was almost £2k...!!!
it'll pull all day every day, won't overheat like the 'lecky ones and is considerably more powerfull...
