Dim Dip Unit
Garth:
Range Rover Blues Very spooky you mentioned the dim dip unit in your post about central locking actuators as that is my next job.
When I have my headlights on Dipped or Main the alternator light comes on. I have had the alternator checked and its OK. If I Flash main beam its ok. I can have eveything electrical switched on (except the headlights and no alternator light)
My bro in law (who is a electronics engineer) has had a look at the wiring diagrams and says bypass the dim dip unit so only the sidelights come on. Does/have anyone come across this problem if so whats the solution.
Also how do I stand legally if I only have the sidelights working I presume the dim dip thingy is there for a reason
Range Rover Blues:
Dim-dip went out of fasion quite quickly. Not sure where you stand on the law though, My Cav should have had it but was never fitted :?
Not sure why it's putting the alt light on either, have to think about that one.
hobbit:
I wish my dim dip circuit was not there, doing my head in trying to track down the circuit, tried every relay I can short of stripping the dash out, can't find a wiring diag for it either :x
Garth:
RRB Something to do with insulation breaking down on the step down transformer So my Bro thinks and bypassing it will confim deny I will keep you posted.
From your other post its near the steering column and black am I right
Range Rover Blues:
For the RRC drop the bottom shrooud from the steering column, you don't have to pull the steering wheel like the manual says, remove it from the bottom first. Under the RH end of the instruments are 2 screw heads on the black steel frame that supports the dash. You have found it :D
