Title: Disco Steering bar conversion for Defender
Post by: hrh_dave on January 25, 2015, 07:43:21
Hi,

Thinking of going down the route of the Gwyn Lewis Sumo drop arm conversion kit... Currently Im running a TF return to centre damper and was wondering if I would be able to refit this...

Cheers

Dave

I'm trying to remember who I saw that made bolt-on (bolt over) brackets to convert their sumo bars to Defender and RRC style bars with brackets for dampers as appropriate.

They had a bolt-on front Defender style mount and a rear mount RRC?disco style, both of which could rotate 360 degrees round the bar, important because you spin the bar to set the tracking and of course can be moved up and down the bars to suite.

Possibly it was QT services, I know I sw it at Donnington a few years ago.

The kit I'm looking at is the Glynn lewis one.. Probably just replace with a standard damper..

Ive got the Gwyn Lewis kit on my discovery. I fitted a terafirma RTC damper and need the 90/110 end  (as opposed to a standard disco one which is pin to pin) fits my sumo bars (also from Gwyn)
