You'll miss the old V8 burble. Wouldn't bother with an lpg conversion, seem more hassle than they are worth from what i've read. Maybe see you about now i've returned to the land rover fold.  :P

No hassle really at all TBH, just a tiny bit of learning that some people seem scared of for some reason.

With a 200TDI, an auto, and those mods you have, I would suggest probably 25MPG, but it will also be like trying to get anywhere driving through treacle, they aren't renowned for their performance you know.....?

As for transfer box, yes go with a 1.410, the gearing is very important when you are running an auto, far more than manual, as I have found out(!) 1.4 will bring it to just very slightly under geared compared to stock, probably helpful given the above about performance.

Don't be put off LPG by horror stories form people who didn't really understand them properly.  I've had several and they run fine.  What you need to think about is the payback cost, the availability and the huuuge tank in the boot.

Yes fit the 1.4 T-box as said, the 4 speed auto box won't thank you for getting the gearing wrong.

My sister has a 300TDi auto and gets 27mpg solo and 21 towing the 'van, maybe better.

Having got used to a Defender V8 Auto as well as driving Diesel Auto's at work my preference will be to stick with that type of gearbox. Makes life with manouvering a heck of a lot easier and nicer!

The only thing to worry about is the fuel consumption. I know of a D2 TD5 manual driven sensibly long distance and that gets 29mpg so a 200/300 tdi auto getting 25mpg isn't too bad.
