Title: EAS reset software Not working HELP!!!
Post by: Brett69 on November 21, 2010, 10:23:49
OK I have just fitted new airbags to my P38 an have the http://www.rswsolutions.com/ lead & software to plug into the car. When I click Initialize it starts to scan/check but keep getting NO IDLE so guessing not good comms, I have changed the idle speed but still no joy. Anybody used this system or local enough with another system to help me out.

Many Thanks Brett

Ive had the same problem recently.

I am going to fix my system by bypassing the ecu completely.

You can raise and lower the suspension by jumping pins on the ecu connector, so am going to disconnect the ecu and put a manual switch in that will raise and lower the suspension manually :)

I would love to do that if I could use the factory switch. Any details on how to do this?

I got the wire information from http://rangerovers.net/repairdetails/airsuspension/suspump.html#jumpers (http://rangerovers.net/repairdetails/airsuspension/suspump.html#jumpers)

There is probably a way to do it, but i am going to put a couple of switches in myself to save time and effort lol

Going to use the existing wires on the loom under the seat, then just extend them and use a couple of piggy back connectors cos you need to do 2 bags at a time, so am going to wire in 3 switches.

1. Front airbags
2. Rear airbags
3. Compressor

It also shows you how to reset the fault so that it stops beeping at you, but the fault remains in the ECU (but i wont be bothered cos i will be leaving the ECU disconnected

It's a bit more complicated than that.  You need to open any bags or combination of bags plus either the inlet valve from the tank or the exhaust valve which purges through the moisture trap (so needs doing once ina a while).

the pump motor pulls about 30 amps too.

You could at one point get a reprogrammed ECU that allowed you to access all 5 height modes at will, you'd have to trawl the adverts in LRM though.

Without the ECU how will you know it's level :-k

Basically i have it setup on a switch now.  It raises and lowers on the switch manually.  Got the compressor on a seperate switch with a little light that will come on when the compressor is full.

The switch raises and lowers all 4 springs together and its most definately level :)

That's a shame as it's really nice to lower it whist driving on motorway ect... also do you still get eas fault on dash or have you got around this also?? sorry for all the questions but seriously thinking about following you down this route.

Thanks Brett

Hiya Brett

Glad to see you've got the bags fitted then ;)

Tom & I couldn't get that software working either. It wouldn't sync up or do stuff as it should be doing, and I got a laptop with a serial port too. Hence his reasoning to goto Coils.

If don't have a lappy with a serial port and want to have a play with this lappy then let me know by PM/Phone etc ;)

Hey guys, I got all my system up & running and used the software & laptop many times. I have now sold my P38 and have brought a disco (I know it won't be as good but wanted to do some wading).

I now have the laptop, lead & working software un-needed If anybody is interested, also have a BECM Sync-Mate for a P38 DSE diesel
