Title: Which springs for a 1991 RRC?
Post by: Dr Strangeglove on August 22, 2012, 06:47:42

I have a 1991 RRC that I use for access to a club I go to.  The road to it is very rocky and rutted and my rear end seams to bottom out a lot on the right hand side.  I don’t know if this is due to the springs becoming weak or if I need stronger springs so I need advice for you guys.

It is a RRC 3.9, 1991.  It is bog standard at the moment and I don’t want to lift it, just to stop it bottoming out.  It does less than 1000 miles per year so I don’t need fantastic off roading kit.

So which springs would you recommend and where is the best place to get them from.  Also, can I just change the rear springs or do I need to do all four.

Thanks for your help.

Mick

Sounds like a cracked or de-natured spring. Get a pair of bog spec new ones from Paddocks or ebay, no need for much else.

Front standard springs are 572315 blue stripe

Rear standard springs are NRC2119 green stripe

Rear heavy duty springs are NRC4304 red and white stripe  (Police spec)

Hope this helps.

It it has anti roll bars they are standard rate springs but if it doesn't they were originally progressive rate, check carefully as they changed sometime around then.

You can fit the red/whites which are ok, not my favourites though.

For an upgrade fit Disco rears, they are stiffer and will put about half an inch under the back without being really crashy.
