Title: Recovery Rings
Post by: davidlandy on September 02, 2003, 13:48:40
stupid question this probably,

but I have Jate rings that I am going to fit to my chassis in the place left by the standard lashing rings.

now do I tighten the bolts on them up full whack or do I leave some slack in them to allow the rings to move?

thanks for your help

I sort of left mine tight but still movable, otherwise I found that if you do them up too tight, they still move when you try to recover with them, and then it's a swine to get the rope/strop/shackles off without having to undo them!!

Hi Dave,

You should leave them a bit slack, to allow them to swing freely. Otherwise if they are tight its a swine to attach ropes etc.

not to loose, that the bang and clatter, just tight so they can move with ease

Duncan,

Put them on last night, took on your sound advice - as u said not too loose, but not too tight.

pretty keen on testing em now,   mmmmm now where can we go to get stuck?
