Title: Series 2a, 3 hybrid?
Post by: kevinragman on October 31, 2011, 14:11:00
Good afternoon! has anyone got any thoughts on a series 2a 109 safari, with the headlights in the grill, then series 3 wings with lights too? too much? my 2a has no wings so thought of leaving the lights in the grill, and maybe covering the light holes in the wings, or 4 lights...... mmmmm

I have seen it done with the lamps left in the grill so as to gige double headlights.

if you're local to me (birmingham) i could loan you a pair of series 3 wings to trial fit so you could make your own mind up

i've seen pictures of this 4 light set up and think it's ok but a lot of folks aren't so keen

Looks odd to me but not horrendous, rivet counters would probably burn you but anything that makes the series more practical for modern road use is a bonus.

I've seen a very similar vehicle and I'm doing the same; my 2a has S3 wings and had a bodged s3 front panel, I found a S2 front panel on ebay so that will be going on instead.

I've also seen numerous S3s with spots bolted to the bumper inboard of the wings so it's a very common look.

Anyway, what's WRONG with OTT?? These are Land Rovers!
