Did you realise that 2A in base 16 (Hex) is equivalent to 42 in base 10?

You see...  The series2 really is the answer to life the universe and everything!

It's also worth noting that there are 10 kinds of people in the world; those who understand binary and those who don't.

In maths, and specifically computers there are different "bases".  Humans sadly start counting on fingers and therefore our world revolves around the number 10.   In computer terms this is a pain in the ass, and so the computer world revolves around the number 2.

So you end up counting in 2's (binary) or 16's (Hexidecimal)

so...

Binary     Decimal     Hexidecimal
0             0               0
1             1               1
10           2               2
11           3               3
100         4               4
101         5               5
110         6               6
111         7               7
1000       8               8
1001       9               9
1010       10             a
1011       11             b
1100       12             c
1101       13             d
1110       14             e
1111       15             f
10000     16             10

etc etc

so "42" in decimal (base 10) is "2a" in hex (or hexidecimal) .

Personally I understand the significance of 42 and Babel Fish programs.  However I feel these may need explaining to others.

According to Douglas Adams 42 is the answer to the meaning of life the universe and everything, or it may just be the answer to what is 6 times 7.

A babel fish is a small fish that you can place inside your ear and it translates from any tongue of the universe into your tongue, thus making it possible for you to understand anyone.  I have often thought a conversation with only one Babel fish would be interesting as the participants passed it from ear to ear.

It was a drink not totally unlike tea, it still bore a nagging resemblence to tea but clearly wasn't tea.
It's not a real car unless it's over 30 years old!
Classic cars are the ones who's owners wave to each other. I just bought a pretend car! F plate 90!
