Dunno, he left a note offering to do so, problem is how much do I say ?

new back bucket and a respray?  or ten minutes with a crowbar and a tin of dulux?

Will pop round tonight to see what's what, I suspect (given by the tone of the note he left) that he's an elderly chap.  It was very appologetic and polite.  He even called me "sir" ...

Well, "Sir or Madam", which means that if he knows of women that drive series 2's, he might be worth talking to ;)

and his car is rather a stylish shade of green now :)

went to see mr "I no longer have a side on my car"...  he was most gracious and so on, and claimed that he was going to get his looked at by a couple of garages and so on..

told him I'd likely do the same...

wondering if it's worth the effort to be honest with you, ten minutes with the lump hammer and a lick of paint will sort it out...

or should I take it somewhere to get it checked out to make sure there's no other lasting damage.... ?

Opinions please...  somewhat worried about taking it anywhere, as they'll no doubt point out that it's not all that healthy, and has a pooched engine...

Ok...  to sum up the "damage" so that you might be able to answer my previous question...

I can't see any damage to the axle or hub, and the guy I have since discovered was moving backwards (which ties in with the damage to mine as it's pulled out the capping at the back), there's nothing on my hubs ti indicate that it was touched, or on his car to indicate similar....  Ergo I think all he's done it twanged my rear wing a little.

There follows a piccy of the damage...

1.  Cracked Filler...  Although I think I did that myself in Scotland when I reversed into a tree (well fell backwards into it when it jumped out of second)

2.  Scraped paint...  I was planning on repainting it anyhow...

3.  More scraped paint....

4.  The wing is dented a little, I can pull it out and hammer it back easy enough I'd imagine.

5.  He's managed to pull a rivet out!!  that'll add at least 20p to the bill..

I'm tempted to send him a letter saying that if he gives us 30 quid or so (mainly for paint) I'll do it myself...

I'm finding it morally difficult to claim he's shagged the motor, or even charge him when all it's really done is damage some already tatty paintwork... meanwhile it's removed the side of his car :|

Opinions please.

Daz,

The condition of the Engine is nothing to do with this.!

At the end of the day this Guy has hit your much loved Landy
and has owned up to it, Take it to a couple of garages and tell
them what you would like doing to get it back to how it was prior
to the damage.

You then go back to the Guy and show him the quotes for the repairs,

If you can do the repairs yourself with a lump hammer....
Ask him for a cash settlement lower than the repair costs and
stick it in your back pocket...

If I had hit your car and you asked me for £30 to get it fixed
I would snap your hand off,  I would say around £100 is a better
figure and it's worth getting your hands dirty repairing it for that.... :D

Whatever you do, DON'T go through your insurance, with that much damage to your Landy, they're likely to write it off....
